Who We Are

About Us

At Thro Kindness, we believe that peace begins with kindness and grows through authentic connection. Our mission is to create spaces of healing and transformation through restorative practices, facilitation, community-rooted dialogue, and transformational programming.

We work alongside individuals, communities, schools, and organizations to foster peace, rebuild trust, and nurture a deep sense of belonging. Through healing-centered training and support, we equip individuals and institutions with the tools to repair harm, create safe spaces for accountability, and lead with compassion.

Grounded in empathy and equity, our work centers the voices of those most impacted and invites collective responsibility for healing and justice.

  • Founder & Community Healing Strategist

Laura Thro, MPS, is a passionate advocate for peace and healing, specializing in domestic violence and trauma prevention, education, and restorative justice. With a heart for community and a mind for systems change, she brings a trauma-informed, restorative approach to her work with both those who have experienced harm and those who have caused it—fostering accountability, resilience, and transformation.

Grounded in the belief that healing happens in community, Laura works closely with families, schools, first responders, service providers, and grassroots organizations to design and implement community-centered programs that meet people where they are. Her integration of restorative practices rebuilds trust, restores dignity, and creates spaces where every voice is valued.

A transformational educator, Laura teaches across multiple levels and facilitates impactful workshops, trainings, and college courses—including at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Her teaching covers topics such as domestic violence, trauma-informed care, restorative practices, and community engagement, equipping individuals and institutions to become part of the healing process.

As the founder of Thro Kindness, the visionary behind Community Steps, and the NSLC-RPAC Coordinator, Laura brings together diverse community members—including youth, first responders, healthcare professionals, justice-impacted individuals, and systems leaders—to support families in need of extra care. Through joyful, human-centered events that center dignity and connection, she demonstrates how small acts of kindness can lead to meaningful, long-lasting change.

As a Lieutenant for the Mountain Iron Fire Department, Laura coordinates community outreach initiatives.

At every level of her work, Laura champions the power of compassion, inclusion, and collective healing—because no one should have to walk alone.
