I've been around the fire service since I was 6 years old, when my dad joined the Eveleth Fire Department. I spent a lot of time at the fire station and represented the department in the 4th of July parade in town for many years. My favorite time during elementary was definitely fire prevention week, so it didn't take long for me to realize, that when I grew up, I also wanted to join the fire service.
I joined the Makinen Fire Department in 2012, shortly after becoming a young single mom. I knew I had to do something with my life that would give my son someone to look up to and feel proud of. I'm currently still active on that department and hold the title of Training Officer. In 2016 I also joined the Eveleth Fire Department, where my love for the fire service started. I'm currently a Captain and I organize the fire prevention program for the department. I work full-time as a Firefighter/EMT at the Minntac mine and have been there since 2021.
In June of last year, I took a step outside my comfort zone and became an instructor for the state and instruct through the Hibbing college fire/ems program. I strongly believe any female willing to put in the work and prove her worth, belongs in the fire service!
