Kindness Fest ©

Wednesday, June 24th, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Teen and young adult game night starting at 8:00 pm

Kindness Fest is a community-centered event focused on bringing people together through kindness, connection, compassion, and positive action. Our goal is to create ripples of peace throughout the community by celebrating the individuals, organizations, first responders, nonprofits, businesses, and neighbors who care about making a difference.

This first annual event will feature opportunities to connect, give back, learn, share resources, enjoy family-friendly activities, and build meaningful relationships within the community. Kindness Fest is rooted in the belief that small acts of kindness can create lasting change and stronger, more connected communities.

Whether you want to volunteer, collaborate, sponsor, host a table, share resources, or simply attend, everyone is welcome. Together, we can help grow a culture of kindness, belonging, and hope throughout the Iron Range and beyond.

2026 Activities

Experience electricity safety in a hands-on, eye-opening way with Lake Country Power's interactive safety demonstration trailer.

This engaging outdoor presentation brings electrical safety to life through realistic demonstrations that show what can happen when electricity is not treated with care. Participants will witness a variety of scenarios, including downed power lines, electrical hazards around the home, and why safety equipment is so important.

One of the most memorable demonstrations uses a hot dog to show how electricity affects the human body and why staying away from power lines can save lives. You'll also learn about the importance of GFCI outlets, electrical safety around water, and what to do if you encounter dangerous situations involving electricity.

Perfect for youth, families, and community members of all ages, this powerful demonstration helps build awareness, spark conversations, and provide practical knowledge that can help keep everyone safe.

Listen. Learn. Live. Join us for this unique educational experience and discover how a few simple safety lessons can make a lifelong difference.

Threads of Kindness is a community clothing and shoe donation and swap focused on meeting needs with compassion. Community members are invited to bring new or clean, gently used clothing and shoes to leave for others, while anyone is welcome to take items they need — no donation required. Our goal is to create a space where kindness, generosity, and community support come together to ensure everyone has access to essentials. All remaining items will be donated to continue spreading kindness beyond the event.

Stop by the Sweet Steps Bake Sale during Kindness Fest to enjoy homemade treats while helping support local youth through Community Steps.

100% of funds raised will go directly toward helping area youth through programs, community support initiatives, and opportunities that create connection, belonging, and positive change.

We are also looking for community members to donate baked goods for the sale. Whether it’s cookies, bars, bread, cupcakes, pies, or family favorites, every donation helps make a difference. Together, we can turn sweet treats into meaningful support for youth in our communities.

Kindness Unplugged (Teen and Young Adult Game Night)

Looking for something fun to do? Grab your friends and join us for Kindness Unplugged, a game night for teens and young adults! Bring your favorite board game, card game, or group game to share, or jump into one of the games already being played.

We'll have snacks, music, laughs, and plenty of friendly competition. Whether you're a serious gamer or just looking for a fun place to hang out, there's something for everyone.

Grill & Potluck

Join us for a community grill and potluck where everyone is welcome to gather, eat, and connect. We invite community members to sign up to bring items for the grill or a side dish to share. However, you do not need to bring anything to enjoy the meal — everyone is welcome at the table.

If you are bringing food, please include a small card listing the name of the dish and its ingredients to help community members with food allergies or intolerances make informed choices. Together, we can create a welcoming and inclusive meal for all.

Memorial Blood Centers will be doing free blood typing for anyone aged 16 or older between the hours of 2:00pm-6:00pm. This is a small finger prick and blood type results can be known in about a 2-minute time frame.

Memorial Blood Centers is a nonprofit community-based blood center that provides lifesaving blood and blood products to hospitals and other organizations. They are the local blood center for Northern Minnesota and serve hospitals and ambulance partners throughout the Northland.

Donating blood takes about 1 hour and can help save up to 3 lives! You can donate blood at any Memorial Blood Centers mobile blood drive or at our donor center in Virginia. Mobile blood drives are planned throughout the calendar year at various organizations, and the donor center is open weekly on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Join us during Kindness Fest for a brief, accessible NARCAN training designed to equip community members with the knowledge and confidence to respond in the event of an opioid overdose. This training will cover how to recognize the signs of an overdose, when and how to administer NARCAN, and steps to take while waiting for emergency responders.

This session is open to all ages and backgrounds and is focused on building a safer, more prepared, and compassionate community. Together, we can help save lives and support one another through awareness and action.

The Kids for Kindness Zone is a fun, interactive space at Kindness Fest designed just for youth and families. Kids can enjoy hands-on activities, games, and creative projects that encourage kindness, teamwork, and connection with others.

This space is all about learning through play—helping kids explore what kindness looks like in everyday actions while having fun in a safe, welcoming environment. From crafts to challenges to simple acts of giving, the Kids for Kindness Zone invites young people to be part of building a more caring community, one small act at a time.

Community Support Station

The Community Support Station is a welcoming space at Kindness Fest where attendees can connect with local resources, services, and organizations that are here to help. Whether you’re looking for information, support, or simply want to learn more about what’s available in our community, this is a starting point.

Visitors can explore a variety of supports focused on health, safety, youth, family services, and overall well-being. Our goal is to make it easier for people to find help, build connections, and feel supported—because no one should have to navigate challenges alone.

The Mountain Iron Fire Department will be bringing fire engines and hands-on activities for youth and families to enjoy throughout the event. Community members will have the opportunity to explore the trucks, meet firefighters, learn about fire safety, and participate in fun, interactive activities designed to educate and engage all ages. Stop by to connect with local first responders, ask questions, and experience a behind-the-scenes look at the important work firefighters do to keep our communities safe.
